Juan Pablo Angel’s First Goal

The New York Red Bulls’ newly acquired designated player, Juan Pablo Angel, scored his first MLS goal in his debute on Tuesday. The Red Bulls played the LA Galaxy in the US Open Cup, but the game was not televised.

Angel, 31, has been a top goal scorer in his previous stops. With Aston Villa, Angel had 44 goals since joining the English Premiership side in January 2001. He collected another 55 for Argentinean power River Plate in four years prior to leaving for England.

Angel’s goal will be the first of many in the MLS. Too bad nobody will be around to see them — in person or on TV.
