Patterson Picks Kentucky

Patrick Patterson, a Huntington High (W.Va.) power forward and former teammate of USC guard OJ Mayo, has decided to play for the Kentucky Wildcats next season. The 6-9 power forward was the last “Top 25” recruit to commit to a school, and he was being heavily recruited by Virginia, Florida, Kentucky, Duke, West Virginia and Wake Forest. However, a couple of weeks ago Patterson narrowed his list to Duke, Florida, and Kentucky. Patterson’s decision to attend UK came after Tubby Smith left and Kentucky hired Texas AM coach Billy Gillispie.

During his high school career, Patterson helped lead the Huntington High School to three-straight Class AAA championship in West Virginia. During his senior season he averaged 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks a game. Patterson was West Virginia’s 2006 Player of the Year and this year he was selected to the McDonald’s All-American team.
