Wal-Mart’s Lee Scott on Bottled Water

Last month I had a post about the silliness of bottled water. Bottled water requires a lot of energy to manufacture and transport, and in the end it is no different than tap water (although I saw last week that our tap water is contaminated with pharmaceuticals).

This video shows Wal-Mart’s Lee Scott quick blurb on Wal-Mart’s “bottled water policy.” Scott recognizes that bottled water products are not sustainable, but he says Wal-Mart continues to sell them because they are what the consumers want.

Scott also says that Wal-Mart is trying to decrease the amount of plastic used to create bottled water.

Being less unsustainable is still being unsustainable.
