JMU Names Matt Brady as New Coach

The coaching search is over (for at least two or three years). Later this afternoon, JMU officials will announce that Matt Brady, former Marist head coach, will be the new head coach of the Dukes’ basketball team.

Brady’s record at Marist was 73-50, and he’s coming off of a season in which his team went 18-14. In 2006-07, Marist went to the NCAA tournament and compiled a 25-9 record.

According to the Daily News Record, “Brady will be paid a base package of $290,000 annually. Incentives could push the grand total to about $400,000.”

Is the Matt Brady the right hire for JMU? Honestly, I have no idea. I know very little about Matt Brady, but from what I hear he’s energetic and a great recruiter. However, I’m wary of those comments because the same things were said about Dean Keener. I wish Matt Brady and the JMU Dukes all the best in the upcoming 200708 season.
