Use the One Minute Water Calculator to calculate the amount of water your lifestyle requires. I bet your wastefulness will be higher than you think it is. Americans take water, especially clean water, for granted.

Eco-Advertising

SunChips uses solar energy for its chips and its advertising. I love the creativity. I think I’ll grab a bag of SunChips…

How do they advertise at night?

Save the Planet

This is a music video produced by two teachers. The lyrics are a little corny, but the video has a great message and it has interesting imagery.

If you absolutely love the song you can download from iTunes. I think I’ll pass.

Yesterday, Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland was awarded the Thomas Jefferson Medal in Architecture at the University of Virginia. According to Wikipedia, Dr. Brundtland “is a Norwegian politician, diplomat, and physician, and an international leader in sustainable development and public health. She is a former Prime Minister of Norway, and has served as the Director General of the World Health Organization. She now serves as a Special Envoy on Climate Change for the United Nations.”

This video was created by the School of Architecture to raise awareness on Dr. Brundtland’s appearance.

This video is Al Gore’s follow up to An Inconvenient Truth. Now that we’ve established that global warming is a serious threat, Al Gore offers an idea on how to fix the crisis.

“As important as it is to change the light bulbs…it’s more important to change the laws.”

“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

I apologize to anyone that finds this video clip sexist, but I thought it was funny. Those Europeans have no shame, but they sure know how to recycle. Did you see all the different types of recycling bins they had on the street? Amazing…take notes USA.

A few weeks ago I reviewed the social networking phenomenon, Twitter. A few days ago I saw a story about plants using cell phones and Twitter to communicate their needs. According to EcoFriend, “a group called Botanicalls has come up with a method to monitor your plants remotely, then be Twittered when they need some water. It can send out a Twitter alert when it’s thirsty and also detect when it’s been over- or under-watered… It uses an Arduino electronics board connected to a notebook, and some soil moisture probes crafted from a couple of galvanized nails.”

I think this is cool as long as my plants don’t start prank calling me…
